This month is Catholic Mission’s, ‘World Missions Month’ and to mark this special time in our Catholic school calendar a group of 19 students accompanied by Mrs Swan and I will go to Stella Maris church to celebrate a liturgy with our fellow district Catholic schools.
It was a lovely liturgy based on the theme, ‘Go and invite everyone to the Banquet’ Matthew 22:9. The liturgy was led by Fr Peter. The liturgy celebrated the work of the Church of Mongolia. The children learned how the money we raise through our Socktober venture assists areas like Mongolia in their plight to assist the poor.
Currently, Mongolia has approximately 1,500 Catholics in the country. There are eight parishes, three mission stations (without resident priests), and one other pastoral centre. The Mongolian Catholic Church is young and lives on the periphery. The congregation prayed for all missions around the world. We in Australia are in such a privileged position to assist the poor and disadvantaged throughout the world. It is our mission as Christians to care for the marginalised.

We aimed for a quieter week this week, in the wake of our fabulous school Musical, The Little Mermaid. What an adventure it has been! After months of planning, rehearsing, creating, setting up, preparing and testing, it was time for everything to come together. And what a success it was. The audiences were amazed that all aspects of the musical were outstanding… the costuming, props, music, singing, dancing, sound, lighting and special effects were incredible. It was such a joy to see even our littlest audience members delight in the show and get so involved. We are so grateful for the enormous team of volunteer staff and parents who worked together with our incredible team leader (our Music teacher, Mrs Inez Durrer) to support our super troupe of student performers from Years 3 to 6 to bring the musical to life. Brilliant efforts all around! We’ll let you all have a rest first, but we can’t wait for the next musical in 2026!

This week, our Year 12 students began their external exams. We are very proud of the way that they have engaged with these exams, and we wish them well as they undertake this very important final assessment period.
On Wednesday, our Year 11s joined the St Catherine’s community for Mass. In his homily, Fr Isaac reminded us of the importance of prayer and of engaging in it regularly. The Mass also marked the final time our NET team will join us for this occasion, and we thank them for assisting so expertly with the music ministry.
Early Friday morning, staff and students turned out in large numbers for the 20th Day for Daniel Walk – from Suncoast Christian College to Briggs Park at Palmwoods. We will never forget Daniel and are proud to support the work of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and to spread its essential message of ‘keeping kids safe’.
