First Sunday of Advent

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible generosity shown by our families and staff in support of the St Vincent de Paul Christmas appeal. The sheer volume of donations, overflowing in bags and boxes, is a testament to the kindness and community spirit that thrives among us. Your contributions will undoubtedly bring joy and warmth to those in need this holiday season, making Christmas a little brighter and more special to those in need.

This remarkable effort embodies the true meaning of Christmas – the spirit of giving. We are in awe and deeply humbled by the collective effort to support this cause. Thank you for your unwavering support and for making a tangible difference in the lives of others. Together, we are spreading the joy and love that Christmas represents.

At this stage of the year, we have lots of transitions happening:

  • Visits from students and staff who will join us officially in 2025
  • Rehearsals for end of year concerts, masses and prayer assemblies
  • Packing up and taking home of this year’s work samples
  • Shifting of classrooms and workspaces
  • Our final staff liturgy and general school assembly
  • Finalisation of class groupings for 2025;
  • Lots of end-of-year class celebrations.

This week we also reversed the tables; our Year 4-6 students headed off to their daily swimming lessons while the younger students got to enjoy double specialist lessons.  The children who head off to swimming each day have had to be super organised, with bags packed, swimmers ready and enough energy to get through the day.  We are so grateful to the parents who helped the children to be prepared each day.  We are also thankful to our super swim-coaches, for organising the groups based on parent feedback before the lessons even started and then for helping the students to make progress in such a short time.  We are looking forward to seeing the swimmers racing in the swimming carnival.

Siena Catholic College

Despite last Wednesday’s almost torrential rain, our Year 10s enjoyed an afternoon of fun at Aussie World – after all, once you are wet, can you actually get much wetter! Earlier in the day, the cohort had the opportunity to congratulate the students who have been elected Student Leaders for 2025, and to gather in prayer – giving thanks for the year that has been, while looking forward to the Christmas season.

It’s really quiet at the College now, as we only have our Year 7, 8 and 9 students on site. They are currently finishing up their assessment tasks and are looking forward to next week’s alternative program, that will see them undertaking Advent and Christmas-themed activities and travelling off-site to different venues for more physically challenging experiences.
