The Summit 2023
As a part of the Implementation phase of the Plenary Council the Archdiocese of Brisbane – Summit 2023 is a way of gathering the faithful of the Archdiocese to look ahead to the future.
How can we listen to God as a community and diocese to shape the future that God desires for us in this part of the world? This question, along with many others, will be part of our exploration and reflection. Join us as we open a space of discernment which will hopefully lead to spirit-filled action. If you want to be involved or if you want more information please email Fr William. Summit 23 will take place at Riverlife Centre, Seventeen Mile Rocks from 6.00pm Thursday 18 May – 3.00pm Saturday 20 May.
Taking the Plunge
Our Baptismal preparation session always takes place in the first week of the month and because of Holy Thursday this coming week the baptismal preparation meeting will be on this Wednesday at 6.00pm at Stella Maris Church at Maroochydoore. At the short meeting we explain the symbols of the baptismal liturgy, answer any questions and confirm dates and times. All parents with infant children to be baptised are invited to contact Challis at the Parish Office to receive a registration form prior to the meeting.
A gathering of the crafty
At the Function Room at Stella Maris Church some of the craftiest people of the Parish gathered to exchange ideas and work on craft projects. The Stella Maris craft group meets on the fourth Friday of every month, and the next gathering is on the 28 April after the 9.00am Mass. New members are always welcome and for more information please contact Olga Girle on 0417 792 616.
St Peter’s craft group meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 1.00pm. For more information please contact Mary Priddy.
Why not join one of them… or both!
Polish blessing of the food
The Polish community warmly invites you to join them for their Blessing of the Food. This is a most enduring and beloved Polish tradition dating back to at least the 15th century. As is the tradition here in our Stella Maris Parish, you and your family are warmly invited to bring your traditional basket of food to be blessed, and join them on Holy Saturday, 8 April, 10.30am at Stella Maris Church, Maroochydore.
Archbishop’s Vocations Dinner 2023
The promotion of vocations to the ministerial priesthood and to religious life is essential for the Church’s present and future. To offer some encouragement to young men and women on their journey of discernment, the Archbishop is hosting dinner on two evenings at his place in April and June. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in attending this event please see Fr William or Deacon Isaac.
New to the neighbourhood?
Our parish we would like to officially welcome you to your new Faith Community. At the entrance to our churches you will discover a Welcome Pack. If you could take a pack as you leave church today, complete the details and return it to us, we will be in touch. Alternatively, you could fill in the I’m new form on our parish website.
Several times a year the Welcome Committee host a New Members Cocktail Party on the balcony of the Presbytery and we want to ensure that everyone gets a invitation.
Ministry to the Sick, the Hospitalised and the Housebound
The next meeting will be on Saturday, 22 April at 9.30am at the Parish Office. It will be an initial enquiry meeting for parishioners who would like to be part of the pastoral care ministry at the Buderim Private Hospital. This is different from bringing Holy Communion to patients but rather is focused on the spiritual wellbeing of all patients at the hospital. A formation programme, offered by the hospital later in the year, is part of the preparation for this ministry.
The final meeting is on Saturday 29 April at 9.30am, at the Parish Office, and is for all parishioners who take Holy Communion to the housebound and to aged care facilities. It is an opportunity for our Parish to ensure that all aged care facilities are being visited, that best practice is being followed and all safeguarding protocols are in place.
Enrolments Now Open – Confirmation 2023
The start of our Sacramental Programme is not too far away – if you have a child in Year 3 or older, now is the time to enrol. Please enrol online via our parish website. For any questions please contact Carrolyn Watt at the Parish Office.

Celebrating and Remembering
We welcome into God’s Family, the Church, all who will be baptised this weekend. We pray for all those who have died, especially Francis Jayaraj whose funeral rites were celebrated last week, and Sylvester O’Dempsey whose funeral will be on this Monday, 3 April and Ruth Reeves whose funeral rites will be on 13 April.
May their souls, and the souls of all our departed priests, religious, parishioners and family members (especially Rex Southon whose third anniversary occurs on Easter Sunday), through the rich mercy of God, Rest in Peace.
Reminder Good Friday screen play – join us!
Don’t be afraid to make the Sacrament of Reconciliation at Stella Maris this Monday, 5.00pm, part of your Lenten Journey this year.
