Parish excursion – Cathedral

We still need to fill 15 more seats for our Parish Excursion to the Cathedral. This is our final call before we leave this Tuesday morning (17 October). The Cathedral community have prepared a Morning Tea for us as soon as we arrive and then we’ll go into the proceedings of the day. Prices are $25 per person and the bus will leave at 8:30am from St Peter’s Coolum, and then from Stella Maris, Maroochydore at 9.00am.

Book of Remembrance

November is the month that we traditionally remember and pray for our deceased loved ones and those who have gone before us marked by the sign of faith. We start the month with the two great feasts – All Saints on 1 November, immediately followed by All Souls the following day. At the entrance to all our churches this weekend you will discover our Parish Book of Remembrance. In preparation for November you are invited to inscribe in the Book of Remembrance the names of your deceased family members and friends and during the month they will be the focus of our prayers.

Celebrating and Remembering

We welcome into God’s Family, the Church, Mason Kearns, Stella Harvey, Ari Harvey, Benjamin Phasawat and Jamie Phasawat who will be baptised this weekend in our Parish. We also welcome Alek Whiteley, Georgia Whiteley, and Lauren Reilly who have been journeying through the RCIA program, and are being fully initiated into the Catholic Church this weekend.
We prayerfully remember all those who have died, especially John Roberts whose funeral will be on Friday 20 October.
May the souls of all our departed priests, religious, parishioners and family members, through the rich mercy of God, Rest in Peace.

Annual Memorial Mass

On Thursday 2 November, All Souls Day, there will be an additional Mass to remember the deceased of our parish, especially those who have died in the last 12 months. This will be held at 9.00am in Stella Maris Church, Maroochydore, and will be followed by a morning tea – you are invited to bring a plate to share. Everyone is welcome.

Prison Ministry

Prison Ministry is a wonderful opportunity to live out the call to ‘visit the imprisoned’ as given to us in the scriptures. There are still opportunities available to sign up for Prison Ministry. Ministers would visit inmates at Woodford Correctional Centre on Fridays. If you’re free and would like to be part of this ministry, contact Fr Will at the Parish Office.

Prison ministry can be daunting at first, but picks up on the Gospel imperative to seek out the lost and lonely, ‘when i was in prison, you visited me’ (Mt 25:36).

Sounds of celebration

Come along to the ‘Sounds of Celebration’ fundraiser at St Peter’s Church Coolum on 12 November. This event is a fundraiser for the St Vincent de Paul Society (Coolum) conference. Tickets are on sale for $15 per person. There will be music from the ‘Waves of Harmony’ choir and some of our student’s choirs will be present. Come along and support this great initiative and raise funds for the good work that the St Vincent de Paul Society does in the area.
