Catholic mission appeal this weekend
This week Catholic Mission will offer the opportunity to be a part of a life-changing program which aims to address gaps in medical care, and provide families with essential health care and knowledge, equipping them with the confidence to act and autonomy over their health and well- being. Each year their appeal focuses on a different country in need, and this year they are especially assisting projects in Timor-Leste. Please give generously this weekend to help continue these life-giving programs by using the appeal envelope provided in the church, or donating here catholicmission.org.au/timor. Your gift will also help many Church-run mission programs around the world.

Book of Remembrance
November is the month that we traditionally remember and pray for our deceased loved ones and those who have gone before us marked by the sign of faith. We start the month with the two great feasts – All Saints on 1 November, immediately followed by All Souls the following day. At the entrance to all our churches this weekend you will discover our Parish Book of Remembrance. In preparation for November you are invited to inscribe in the Book of Remembrance the names of your deceased family members and friends and during the month they will be the focus of our prayers.
A reminder that we have an additional All Souls Day Mass at Stella Maris, Maroochydore at 9am on Thursday 2 Nov. We will still have a Mass at St Peter’s, Coolum at 8:30am.

Celebrating and Remembering
We welcome into God’s Family, the Church, Ivy Speer and Maisie Morrison who will be baptised this weekend in our Parish.
We prayerfully remember all those who have died. May the souls of all our departed priests, religious, parishioners and family members, through the rich mercy of God, Rest in Peace.
Fasting and Vigil Prayer for Peace in Israel-Hamas war – 27 October
Pope Francis at the end of his general audience on Wednesday morning announced another day of prayer and fasting for an end to the Israel-Hamas war.
“I have decided to call for a day of fasting and prayer on Friday, Oct. 27,” the pope said.
It will be “a day of penance to which I invite sisters and brothers of the various Christian denominations, those belonging to other religions, and all those who have at heart the cause of peace in the world, to join in as they see fit,” the Holy Father continued.
The vigil will take place at 6 p.m. in St. Peter’s Square, where the faithful will join the pope to participate in “an hour of prayer in a spirit of penance to implore peace in our time, peace in this world. I ask all the particular Churches to participate by arranging similar activities involving the people of God,” the pope said.
