What’s on…

To all our Father’s, Grandfathers’ and Father figures in our Parish Family, Happy Father’s Day

Ignite Conference Fundraiser

Don’t forget we need your dirty cars for next weekend’s car wash at St Catherine’s, Sippy Downs.  For $20 we will give your car a real good clean. All the proceeds go towards reducing the costs of our youth attending the annual Ignite Youth Conference in Brisbane at the end of September.  Sunday 8 September, Sippy Downs car park from 7.30am – thanks for your support!

This Tuesday

The initials R.C.I.A. simply stands for The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults.  It is the prayerful journey of preparation and  discernment for those who are exploring the option of joining the church or for those who are returning to the Church.  The Holy Spirit is definitely at work in our community because currently we have two groups meeting regularly learning more about the Catholic faith.  Because of several requests, we are going to form another group and if you are interested to find out more about what we believe and look at the possibility of being baptised and joining the Church you are invited to meeting this Tuesday, 3 September, 6.00pm in the Bliss Room, adjacent to the Stella Maris parish office.  Further information please contact Fr Isaac at the office or by email.     ( [email protected] )

Local Meetings

Next Wednesday being the first of the month, all local groups are reminded of your respective meetings – Coolum 12 noon, Buderim 2.30pm, Sippy Downs, 4.30pm, Maroochydore 6.00pm. A grateful parish thanks all members of our local groups for helping to coordinate the many activities within our Parish Family and for always being willing to oversee new pastoral initiatives in our community.

Children’s Church

Every Sunday at St Catherine’s (8.00am Mass) and Stella Maris (9.00am Mass) we have Children’s Church. All our younger children at the start of Mass  are sent forth with their catechist to celebrate a more age appropriate  reflection on the Gospel before returning to the church towards the end of the  Eucharistic prayer.  We are always looking for more adults to join the team and the easy to use

resources make this a very rewarding ministry –  see Carrolyn Watt for more information.

Baptismal Preparation

On the first Thursday of every month, we host a baptismal preparation meeting for all parents with infant children.  At this short meeting that begins at 6.00pm at  Stella Maris, we simply look at some of the symbols used in celebrating the sacrament, answer any questions and confirm dates and times.  Please go to our Parish web page and download the registration form before the meeting.

Thank You

The Stella Maris Craft Group would like to thank everyone who supported their craft sale last weekend at Maroochydore. Sales were brisk and bargains aplenty! $1,340 was raised and this will be donated to the Black Dog Institute.

Anointing Mass

The First Friday of September falls on next Friday and everyone is invited to our monthly 9.00am Anointing & Healing Mass at Stella Maris.   Perhaps you might know a neighbour or friend who needs transport to the Mass?  At the conclusion of the Anointing Mass, everyone is warmly invited to morning tea following the Mass.

First Holy Communion

Last Sunday was a great celebration of faith, hope and joy as across our Parish we celebrated the First Holy Communion of 95 of our younger parishioners.   After weeks of  preparation, and a large dose of anticipation, the first Holy Communion Masses were great celebrations of handing on the faith to our young men and women.  Congratulations to Carrolyn Watt, our Sacramental Coordinator, to our catechists, NET team and the many parishioners behind the scenes who helped make this year’s preparation journey which was so meaningful to the candidates, their families, and our entire Parish community.
