A community growing together in faith,

and living out the Good News.

Stella Maris Catholic Parish is proud to be one of the largest parishes in the Archdiocese, but more importantly, we see ourselves as a vibrant missionary hub. Our aim is to provide meaningful avenues for people to encounter Christ and to live out His gospel message, so please don't be intimidated!

The size of our Catholic community, mirrors the tremendous growth in population on the Sunshine Coast. Once upon a time, our 'sleepy, little' coastal township of Maroochydore was part of the Nambour Parish and only separated as its own Parish in 1978. With around 2000 regular parishioners attending Mass every weekend, we are blessed with a thriving and engaged community. This growth presents unique opportunities not only to deepen the faith of those within our Parish but also to touch the lives of family, friends, and the wider community as missionary disciples. Together, we are called to share the Good News and bring Christ's light to the world.

Our four worshiping communities – St Mary’s Buderim, St Peter’s Coolum, Stella Maris Maroochydore and St Catherine of Siena Sippy Downs – create a diverse and vibrant Catholic Community that is both sensitive to each unique journey and eager to share the story of the Good News. The priests of Stella Maris Catholic Parish want to affirm that the good work of this parish is not done by them alone, but the together with the community as a vital part of the Church's Mission. Whether its through active involvement in ministry or something as simple as showing up every weekend and offering a warm hello to someone, the presence of our parishioners and their participation makes a difference in people's lives.

At the heart of our Parish is our commitment to gather in friendship with all people we encounter and to practice the Gospel values of love, justice and service; and to bear witness and expression of our Christian faith. We invite you to journey with us as we embrace the Good News, and as we continue to build a Parish where Christ's love is felt, shared and celebrated.

If you are reconnecting with the Church or moving to our community we hope that your story will become part of our common story as together we journey on the great pilgrimage of faith.
