We are excited to announce that students from Prep to Year 3 will be commencing their swimming lessons this week. This important part of our curriculum is designed to help students develop essential water safety skills, confidence in the water, and swimming techniques that will support their lifelong safety and enjoyment in aquatic environments. Lessons will take place at Sunshine Coast Grammar School pool, with qualified instructors ensuring that each child receives tailored guidance suited to their abilities.

Additionally, our Year 4 and 5 students will be participating in the Surf Skills program. Living on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, it’s vital for our students to learn how to navigate and respect the ocean. This program will teach them key surf survival techniques, rip identification, and safe water practices, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to enjoy our beaches safely.

We believe these experiences not only foster essential life skills but also encourage confidence, fitness, and a love for our natural surroundings!

We ended last term with our Grandparents’ Day, welcoming over 500 grandparents and grand-friends to a celebration of the endless love, wisdom, and warmth these fabulous people bring into the lives of our children.  While the weather meant that we had to cancel our outdoor liturgy, there were musical performances, classroom visits and activities, a special blessing, a delicious morning tea and lots of smiles and hugs.

We jumped back into school routines this week with the beginning of our new school term; the last school term at primary school for our Year 6 students.  It’s set to be a busy one, but we are looking forward to lots of new learning; celebrating the Month of the Rosary and our school feast day; raising funds and awareness to support Catholic Mission and collecting items to support our local Vinnies’ Christmas hamper project; our school Musical (The Little Mermaid); swimming fun and great achievements.

The final term of the school year has begun, and we were quickly back into all that it will have to offer.

We would like to congratulate staff member Paul Dionysius – a worthy recipient of a TeachX Award from the Queensland College of Teachers. This Award complements his BCE Excellence in Teaching Award, with both recognising his excellence in engaging with and extending students in the area of Digital Technologies.

Our Year 11 students have taken the opportunity to think about their role as leaders in the College and have begun the discernment process for choosing the 2025 student leadership team. Meanwhile, our Year 12s are in the final stages of preparation and revision for their External Exams, which start in Week 4.

During the holidays, our NET team and a number of our students attended the annual Ignite Conference in Brisbane. All participants in the event spoke about how much they enjoyed all that the experience had to offer. Thanks to the NET team for their hard work in fundraising for this event and for their leadership in a number of the conference sessions.
