Winter Appeal

Vincentians from Saint Gerard Majella at Maroochydore and Saint Peter’s at Coolum will hand out Winter Appeal Donation Envelopes before Mass this weekend. Donations will be collected after Mass or you can place your donation envelope on the collection plate next weekend. If you would like to make a donation via direct deposit, the banking information is printed on your newsletter. Especially on our Sunshine Coast, the members of Vinnies are the face of the church and faith in action, and every dollar you donate goes to assist those who are in the most need – thank you for your generosity.

Join us for Fun days with God

Alive in the Spirit is the Maroochydore Catholic Parish holiday program for the June school holidays. It will be an exciting day of fun activities including craft, bible stories, songs, prayer, drama, plays and games – all based around the Holy Spirit.

Date: This Wednesday 26 June from 9.00am-3.00pm

Children may be dropped off from 8.40am, with our program beginning at 9.00am. Pick up time 3.00pm. Parents invited to join us for a closing ritual at 2.45pm.

Where: The Function room – at the Stella Maris Church grounds, Maroochydore.

Cost: $10.00 per child with a maximum of $20 per family.

What to bring: Children are to wear comfortable “sun smart” clothing and need to bring their own water bottle morning tea, lunch and hat. (Just like they would for school)

We always need extra adults to supervise so if you would like to stay for the day and help, we would be most grateful and your children would attend for free. We have limited spaces so you will need to email me a.s.a.p. to receive a registration form or collect one at the parish office. Placements are not guaranteed until we have received your registration form.

For more information about Fun Days with God, please email Bernie Baillie or phone the parish office.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Youth

If you are in secondary school and wish to become a fully initiated member of the Church, we will be facilitating an RCIY programme beginning in June. If you are interested, please contact Carrolyn Watt [email protected] or call the parish office 5443 3488. We keep in our prayers the adults currently on the RCIA journey.

Bring your Parents!

Each weekend here in our Parish, we celebrate the baptisms of our young ones. We give thanks to God for the gift of life and welcome them into God’s family, the church. At the Stella Maris Mass on Sunday, 7 July at 9.00am, we have sent an invitation to all the newly baptised babies and young children to come along to a special celebratory Mass – they can also bring their parents and families!!!

It is our chance to acknowledge and celebrate the start of their faith journey with them and to enjoy some light refreshments after Mass.

For your Diary – Save the Date!

There are plenty of things happening within our Parish Family over the next couple of weeks. For your diary, please note that after months of renovations taking place quietly behind the scenes, we have at last finished the renovations at Stella Maris.

On Sunday, 21 July we will invite our former Parish Priest, Fr Joe Duffy, to bless the completed project after the 9.00am Stella Maris Mass. As part of the ceremony, we will name the two meeting rooms: The Duffy Room and The Bliss Room. It will be a great chance to catch up with Fr Joe.

On Friday, 26 July, after the 9.00am Stella Maris Mass, we will welcome Leah Keating who will make a presentation on dementia. Some of the questions that Leah will be addressing include the difference between dementia and normal ageing, the modifiable risk factors for dementia, being a carer for someone with dementia and communication and support strategies. More information to follow.

On the journeyWhere life meets Faith

We welcome into God’s Family, the Church, Christopher Ashwood, Everleigh Ashwood and Thomas Rooney who will be baptised this weekend in our parish.

We pray for all those who have died, especially Eileen Judith McLaren. “Judy” Judy’s Funeral Rites will be celebrated at Stella Maris Church on Monday, 1 July at 10.00am.

May her soul, and all the souls of all our faithfully departed priests, religious, family and parishioners, through the rich mercy of God Rest in Peace.

First Communion

Registrations are now open for First Communion. If your child is in Year 4 or older please enrol online via our website maroochydoreparish.com.au. Parent information night will be on Tuesday 16 July at 5.00pm, candidates are not required to attend the parent session. Please visit our website for further information and all scheduled First Communion dates.

Enquiries: Please email Carrolyn Watt, our Sacramental Coordinator or call the parish office.

Moving Forward

Thank you to all parishioners and friends of the Parish who financially support the mission of the parish. Especially during these days, when the cost of living is impacting everyone, your generosity is truly appreciated and not taken for granted.
The start of a new Financial Year is always an opportunity to reflect upon the financial health of our Parish Family and to look at the priorities and challenges that we have to face over the next twelve months. Our ability to budget and prioritise our ministries and outreach is dependent upon your continued support – thank you.
If you decided to support the mission of your Parish using weekly planned giving envelopes, then next week they will be available for collection. If you would like to join our Parish Planned Giving programme, there is information at the entrance to the church or go to the parish web page.

DIRECT DEBIT & CREDIT CARD: Since Covid many people have taken advantage of utilising Direct Debit to fulfil their pledge – it’s simple, easy and if you would like Direct Debit forms they are available at the entrance to the Church.

DIRECT DEPOSIT: Parishioners have also found Direct Deposit into the Parish Account a convenient way to financially support the mission and ministry of the Parish. Our Parish banking details are:

Account Name: Stella Maris Parish

BSB: 064-786
Account Number: 100000037

SMART TERMINALS: These are now in operation at all four of our churches. They are positioned on stands near the entrance to the Church. Its just a matter of “Tap N Go”

ENDOWMENT FUND: Your financial donation to our Parish Endowment Fund is a donation that will keep working for the Parish. It is your legacy and your tangible statement of confidence in the future of the Parish! The Parish will live off the interest and never touch the capital, ensuring that your generosity will continue to work for the Parish.

There is an information envelope at the entrance to the church, on behalf of the Finance Committee, a grateful Parish says thank you.
