Siena Catholic Primary School
Catholic Education Week
This week, we celebrated Catholic Education Week. It was an opportunity for all 313 Catholic Schools in Queensland to celebrate and promote their distinctive mission and ethos.
Catholic Education makes a difference in the lives of our students, staff, and community by challenging young people to live out the message of Jesus and to reach their full potential as compassionate, contributing, life-giving members of society. The theme this year was, ‘Communities of Faith Hope and Love’.
Today, the college and school combined to celebrate Catholic Education Week with a liturgy. Mr Bucklar told the gathering that we are Catholic Education. We live our Catholic belief through our words and actions. Ms Collins, the college principal, also spoke of how we live faith, hope and love daily inspired by the Gifts of the Spirit.
The primary senior choir sang beautifully and was led by Mrs Khoury and Mrs Summit.
During the liturgy, we presented ‘Spirit of Catholic Education’ awards to a student from each year level. These students are role models for our school. They show gratitude, empathy and mindfulness daily and are inclusive of all. They are the face of Jesus to those around them.
Our Staff award winner was Gabby Khoury.
Congratulations to all our award recipients.
Stella Maris Primary School
This week, we have been celebrating Catholic Education Week and the fact that Catholic kindies, schools and universities are diverse communities, nurturing Faith, inspiring Hope, and spreading Love.
Faith is the foundation of our journey; Hope illuminates the path ahead; and Love is the heartbeat of the community. Our school is not just a place of learning; it’s a sanctuary where faith, hope, and love intertwine to shape the hearts and minds of our precious students, who rise to meet high expectations.
Classes have shared stories of the great things that have happened and are continuing to happen at Stella Maris School, capturing the blessings of our school in paper-chains. We especially acknowledged the work of our two recipients of the 2024 Spirit of Catholic Education Awards. We honour the tireless dedication of all teachers, the unwavering support of parents, and the boundless potential of our students. Altogether, we create a legacy—a legacy of faith-filled learners, hopeful dreamers, and loving souls.
May God’s grace continue to guide us as we journey forward, hand in hand, as pilgrims of faith, hope, and love.
Siena Catholic College
It’s been a great week at Siena, with a particular focus on the third of our Pillars – the Pillar of Community.
We started the week with a photo shoot for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. This year is the 20th Anniversary of the Day of Daniel Walk and we were honoured to be asked to create a number 20 for them to use in the lead up to the day. We went ‘all out’ in response, taking all of our staff and students to the oval in order to create a giant number two and zero to fulfil their request.
On Wednesday morning, we gathered with the Primary School for our annual Catholic Education Week liturgy. This was a wonderful celebration of both schools, as we reflected on what it means to belong to not just our school, but the wider system of Catholic schools in Qld.
Wednesday afternoon saw us competing in the rescheduled Athletics Carnival. Under beautiful blue skies, students completed the track and field and tug-of-war events. Congratulations to the students from Ozanam who were awarded the Champion House trophy.
