Infant Baptism (O-6 years)
The Sacrament of Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation. It involves ritual washing with water. Water is commonly known as a symbol of life and cleansing – that’s what it means in Baptism too. Water is poured over a person’s head (or the person can be immersed in water). This action is a symbol of washing away Original Sin and rising to new life in Christ and marks the beginning of a person’s participation in the mission of the Church. Our preparation evenings are held, the first Thursday of the month 6.00pm in the Stella Maris Church, Maroochydore.
Please register your child via the baptism enrolment link below and we will be in touch.
Child Baptism (7-15 years)
Before older children and adolescents are baptised, they will undergo a period of instruction appropriate to their level of understanding. Stella Maris Parish offers two set dates per year specifically for this age group. (We will deliver extra sessions if required depending on the level of need within our community.)
Our Preparation consists of the following 4 Steps.
- Parent and child attend initial enquiry session
- Followed by a 2 hour preparation session
- Complete 5 Masses with Mass passport signed by priest or Mass coordinator
- Workbook completed and handed into the office
Please register your child via the baptism enrolment button below and we will be in touch.
Adolescent Baptism (16-17 years)
The process for 16 -17 year old adolescents requires a slightly longer period of time and is known as the Rite of Christian Initiation for Youth. The RCIY journey involves pastoral formation and guidance. It guides young people as they learn about the Church’s fundamental beliefs and practices and acts as a stepping stone towards being accepted as full-fledged members of the Catholic Church.
Please register your adolescent via the baptism enrolment button below and we will be in touch.
