August 6 - The Transfiguration of the Lord, celebrates Our Lord’s glorification on Mount Tabor in the presence of his disciples Peter, James, and John.

August 8 – Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia’s first canonised saint, was an ordinary woman who lived an extraordinary life. As a woman of faith, courage and hope, she overcame many obstacles and challenges to create a legacy that continues to inspire today.

August 15 - The Assumption of the Virgin Mary, commemorates the day when Mary was taken up into Heaven body and soul, at the end of her earthly life. The Assumption teaches that unlike human death, which involves the separation of the soul from the body, Mary Immaculate, being free from original sin, was assumed into Heaven in her complete and glorified state. This day is a Solemnity and a Holy Day of Obligation, when Catholics are expected to attend Mass. Join us on this Solemnity for Mass, 8:00am at Stella Maris.

August 22 - The Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrates Mary as the Queen of Heaven and Earth. The feast acknowledges Mary’s unique role in salvation history as the Queen Mother of Jesus, who is the King of kings. This date was formerly The Feast of the Immaculate Heart and many of the faithful still commemorate Our Lady’s Heart with Her Queenship on this day.
