Feeling Crafty?
The monthly gathering of our Maroochydore Craft Group takes place this coming Friday, 25th October following the 9am morning Mass. New members are always welcome and you are invited to pop into the Bliss Room and have a look at the diverse crafts that we are creating. Several times a year we hold a stall after mass and the proceeds support local charities. Please feel free to join us this Friday.
Archbishop visits HEBrews
With his imminent retirement approaching quickly, last Sunday after blessing HEbrews, our coffee van, the Archbishop took the opportunity of getting to get a crash course on becoming a hipster barista! The Archbishop knows, as we all do, that hospitality and making everyone welcome, including the stranger and holiday maker, lies at the heart of who we are. We are grateful for all those involved in the ministry of hospitality across our large and energetic parish family. Who knows, if His Grace gets bored in retirement one Sunday, he might be making skinny flat whites and cappuccinos here at Stella Maris!
Flocknote
Have you gone online and become a registered member of your Parish? Last week, we launched across our community the invitation to register using Flocknote, our new, church designed, Australia wide date programme. There are three ways for you to register.
By simply using your phone and this QR code it will take you directly to the parish sign up page. You will receive a confirmation code which will allow you to securely enter your family details.
When you are sitting in front of your computer follow his link https://maroochydore.flocknote.com/register and it will also take you to our Parish data page.
Feedback tells us that it is a easy process when you are sitting in front of your computer!
If you haven’t got a computer or if you have tried and technology has beaten you, then at the entrance to the church you will discover a hard copy of the registration form – please complete it and return it to the parish so that we can register you.
Finally, if you are having trouble or if you have any suggestions please send us a email. ([email protected])
Flocknote is a work in progress and every parish is different with unique ministries and needs – only with your feedback and involvement can we continue to refine Flocknote so that it lives up to its full potential as a instrument of the Good News!
Thanks for registering!
Men’s Retreat
Sisterhood
Sisterhood, our parish women’s ministry, meets at Stella Maris for their monthly gathering this Tuesday, October 22nd, at Stella Maris. It is a chance for the women of our community to come together to share with each other important aspects of faith and also to reflect upon the journey that leads to the annual Women’s One Day Retreat held at Stella Maris primary school on Saturday, November 23. Please accept this invitation to join us this Tuesday, 6pm at Stella Maris – why not invite a neighbour or a friend?
20th Anniversary Celebration
Last Sunday, the early morning rain clouds gave way to blue skies and fine weather which was the perfect backdrop for us to gather and celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the blessing of St Catherine of Siena church at Sippy Downs. Former parishioners and visitors joined the local community as Archbishop Mark Coleridge celebrated the Anniversary Mass. Thank you to the organising committee, who spent all year planning the occasion, and to both the primary and secondary schools who joined the local community in providing the substantial morning tea after the Mass. The bacon & egg sandwiches were particularly popular! Congratulations once again to the Sippy Downs community.
All Saints Day & All Souls’ Day
Two important feasts in our yearly calendar are All Saints Day and All Souls’ Day. This year, All Saints Day falls on Friday, November 1st and Mass will be celebrated at Stella Maris at 9am. The next day, Saturday November 2nd, is All Souls’ Day and there will be a special Mass at 9am at Stella Maris. Here in our Sunshine Coast Parish, we have a tradition of remembering our loved ones who have gone before us – it is good to remember. Especially, as a parish we remember those of our community who have died during the past 12 months and our Grief Support Group invites their family members to join us at that Mass. Please note that there will be no Reconciliation on Saturday, November 2nd.
Time to Order
The Parish Office will be placing an order for annual liturgical books on Wednesday, November 13th. If you would like a Daily Mass Book ($20), Break Open the Word ($20), or an Ordo ($15), simply place your request and contact details in an envelope and include the required amount and we will include your order with the Parish order. Alternatively, you can go directly to the website of Liturgy Brisbane and place your own order.
NET Update
Our NET team for 2024 finishes up on the weekend of November 10, after which they have a period of debriefing and reflection before returning to their families. As a Parish Family, we have been so fortunate this year in having such articulate, authentic and hardworking witness of the Good News in our midst. Over that weekend, we will have a chance to farewell this year’s team as we look forward to welcoming a new NET team next year.
Farewell
Over the past couple of years Chalice Boland has helped in the parish office first as a volunteer and then friendly receptionist and more recently coordinating the many baptismal enquiries that comes to us each month. Chalice has decided that now is the time to step back from these responsibilities and as a parish, we thank her for her ministry and service over the years.
