Flocknote

Have you gone online and become a registered member of your Parish?  Two weeks ago, we launched across our community the invitation to register using Flocknote, our new, church designed, Australia wide data programme.

When you are sitting in front of your computer follow this link  https://maroochydore.flocknote.com/register and it will take you to our Parish Flocknote data page.  Feedback tells us that it is a easy process when you are sitting in front of your computer!

If you haven’t got a computer or if you have tried and technology has beaten you, then at the entrance to the church you will discover a hard copy of the registration form – please complete it and return it to the parish so that we can register you.

Finally, if you are having trouble or if you have any suggestions, please send us a email
[email protected]

Flocknote is a work in progress and every parish is different with unique ministries and needs – only with your feedback and involvement can we continue to refine Flocknote so that it lives up to its full potential as a instrument of the Good News!

Thanks for registering!

Calling all Junior Youth Minisers

If you have received the Sacrament of Confirmation and are in Year 3 or above then this Youth Group is for you!

Every Sunday our Junior Ministers youth group gather from 3.00pm to 5.00pm at Stella Maris during the school term. Tell your friends and come along! In our sessions, we’ll explore various ministries where our young people can get involved. After our activities, we’ll enjoy a snack of pizza and a drink, followed by fun games. We’ll wrap-up just in time to join the 5.00pm Mass celebration.

If you’re interested and would like to learn more, please reach out to Bernie Baillie at [email protected]

Good to Know

In our Parish Family it is a privilege, and not a right, to come forward and receive Holy Communion in our Parish Family.  We are conscious of our fellow parishioners who, for whatever reason, cannot receive Holy Communion.  They are, however, along with anyone who joins us and who is not a Catholic, welcome to come forward with the community and receive a blessing.  When you approach the minister simply cross your arms and ask for a blessing.

There are some common rituals and habits that unite us who receive Holy Communion.  Paragraph 160 of the official General Instruction of the Roman Missal explains that the sign of reverence for the sacred elements is a bow that is made as communicants approach the ministers distributing Communion: “When approaching to receive Holy Communion, the faithful bow in reverence of the Mystery that they are to receive”.  Communicants are to make a simple bow of the head when they step forward to receive the consecrated elements from the minister. Such a bow can be done simply, without disrupting the flow of the Communion Procession.  You consume the Blessed Sacrament immediately on receiving it.

Anointing Mass

The First Friday of November coincides with All Saints’ Day and everyone is invited to our monthly 9.00am Anointing & Healing Mass at Stella Maris.  Perhaps you might know a neighbour or friend who needs transport to the Mass?  At the conclusion of the Anointing Mass, everyone is warmly invited to morning tea on the church veranda.

Children’s Church

Every Sunday, at St Catherine’s (8.00am Mass) and Stella Maris (9.00am Mass) we have Children’s Church.  All our younger children at the start of Mass are invited to the front of the altar, blessed and sent forth with their catechist to celebrate a more age appropriate reflection on the Gospel before returning to the church towards the end of the Eucharistic prayer.  We are always looking for more adults to join the team and the easy–to-use resources make this a very rewarding ministry – contact Carrolyn Watt, our Sacramental Coordinator for more information: [email protected]

Catholic Mission

Last weekend, our Sunshine Coast Parish celebrated with the Universal Church Mission Sunday and we were reminded about our connection and obligations to our sisters and brothers beyond our shores.  Thank you for once again generously supporting the appeal.  If you did not get a chance to contribute to the Missions collection, there are still appeal envelopes available at the entrance to the church or you can go on line: www.catholicmission.org.au.  A special thank you to our Student Ambassadors who lead our reflection at St Catherine’s, St Mary’s and Stella Maris.   Also, thank you to St Catherine of Siena Primary School for leading last Sunday Mass and the fantastic morning tea.

Farewell NET Team

It only seems like yesterday that we were welcoming the six members of our NET team for 2024 but suddenly their time with us is quickly drawing to a close!  Next weekend will be the last time they will be with us before they depart for retreat and debriefing.  We are in the process of negotiating for a new team for 2025.  So over the next weekend, if you run into a NET team member, be sure to thank them for their hard work and faithful ministry in our midst.

Baptism Preparation Evening for Infants

Those parents with new born babies wishing for them to be baptised are reminded of the preparation meeting, which takes place at Stella Maris Church on the first Thursday of every month.  At this short preparation meeting, we outline some of the symbols used at the ceremony, answer any questions and confirm dates.  The next baptismal preparation meeting will be on next Thursday 7 November beginning at 6.00pm.  Please register through our parish website: www.maroochydoreparish.com.au
