Siena Catholic Primary School
On Monday, we started our Holy Week journey. Our Year 1 students reverently and enthusiastically re-enacted the Palm Sunday story where Jesus triumphantly entered into Jerusalem amidst the cheering crowds waving their palm branches. This was followed by a beautiful, solemn portrayal of The Last Supper and The Washing of the Feet by the Year 5 cohort. The message of service, remembrance and peace was represented so very well by our students and teachers.
Today our Year 4 students retold the story of Jesus’ arrest, trial and crucifixion. It was a solemn reverent reflection in which the children depicted various scenes from Jesus’ journey to the cross.
On Thursday morning we will celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus.
The Year 6C children will lead the assembly, firstly to reflect on the events of Holy Week and then celebrate the joy of life again through the Resurrection of Jesus. This is the ultimate victory over sin. Through the Resurrection we are called to go out and serve others through active mission. The school accepted the call and is raising money and awareness d for the poor and underprivileged of our local community and world through Laps for Life and Laundry.

Last Thursday the whole school celebrated National Harmony Day. We wore orange accessories and had a special assembly. Did you know that we have families from 20 different countries attending our school? The goal of Harmony Day is to encourage everyone to appreciate and celebrate differences and promote a sense of community and belonging for everyone.
This week we were reminded by a row of palms along our school driveway that we entered into the most important week of the Church’s year – Holy Week.
We will be concluding our school term with a whole school liturgy retelling the story of this special week. Each year level has a special part to of the story to tell in the liturgy.

The Term has passed so quickly, and here we are in Holy Week, ready to commemorate the Easter story before we begin a two-week break that will help us to recuperate and recharge in readiness for Term Two.
During the week, we completed our Caritas fundraisers with the always successful Bernardino Easter Raffle. Thanks to those who donated eggs and bunnies and those who purchased raffle tickets in the hope of attaining a basket of ‘chocolatey’ goodness.
Wednesday morning saw us pause to follow Jesus on the journey to the Cross. During a whole school liturgy, our NET team helped us to recall the key events of Holy Week. Following this, Ms Collins challenged us to remember that in spite of any obstacles thrown our way, we have a community that loves us, we have people in our lives who love us, and most importantly, we have a God who loves us so much that they would sacrifice their only Son that we may enjoy eternal life.
Best wishes to all for a Happy and Holy Easter season.
