This year we have partnered with the Resilience Project to promote and live gratitude empathy and mindfulness in our learning, teaching, interactions and religious life.
These qualities are interwoven in our daily life at Siena and are evident in both children’s dialogue and staff interactions. Recently we have broadened our focus to include our families to be part of the Resilience Project. All year levels had an activity to involve the children talking with their parents/carers about what families are grateful for or ways they display empathy to one another or to the broader community.
Year one focussed on empathy with their family activity. The task was ‘How does your family show Kindness’. A Kindness quilt was made from the responses. They also made an empathy chain where each family member wrote how they help at the place. Eg. Charlie empties the dishwasher without being asked’. How lovely. Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness is alive and well in our Siena community.

The Sunshine Coast Show Holiday made this week a short one and we all enjoyed a break before the final week of term.
Our Senior AFL teams took to the field for their Gala Days on Monday and Tuesday, and we are very proud of the way that our teams represented the College. The boys finished their day undefeated, while the girls were unfortunately knocked-out at the semi-finals stage.
On Tuesday, our Year 10 students had the opportunity to look to making decisions regarding their Senior Schooling journey, while attending a presentation entitled ‘Shape your Destiny’. Wednesday was the turn of our Year 11s and their parents, as they spent time reviewing progress on their Senior Pathways.
Thursday was a chance for the community to gather for Siena’s version of the World’s Greatest Shave. Fourteen of our students bravely shaved, cut and coloured their hair in order to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation, while we all enjoyed the entertainment provided during another wonderful lunch on the lawn.
