LATEST PARISH NEWS

Please Make Welcome

Over the next couple of weeks, we will have the opportunity to welcome to our Sunshine Coast Catholic Family the new members of our 2025 NET team.  They come from Melbourne, Queensland, South Australia, America and New Zealand.   They will hit the ground running because last year’s NET team did the hard yards and had to explain who they were and what they hope to do!  This year, building on the solid foundation provided by last year’s team, our new NET team are getting straight to work! Already, they have received a warm welcome at our schools, so please let’s make them feel welcome, and if you see them along your journey, don’t be afraid to say hello!

COMMISSIONED TO SERVE

Last weekend, we held a brief training and refresher meeting to welcome new ministers and remind existing ministers of what is best practice and to share our experiences and find solutions.  It was also a chance to ensure that as registered parishioners, we all comply with the necessary blue cards and police checks. This weekend, across all our Masses, we will commission and pray for all our generous fellow parishioners who are Eucharistic Ministers, Readers and Ministers who visit the housebound and nursing homes.  On behalf of the entire Parish, thank you for your ministry.

 SISTERHOOD—OUR PARISH WOMEN’S MINISTRY

We are so excited to invite you to the first Sisterhood gathering for 2025. We will be outlining our plan for 2025, as well as introducing a couple of new team members. As always, we will be creating a beautiful space to grow in our faith. So, all the women of our Parish Family are invited to come along on this Tuesday, February 18th, 6pm at Stella Maris Church, Maroochydore.  A cuppa and bickies will be provided, come join us!

Next weekend, being the fourth Sunday of the month, the Mass in Polish will be celebrated at St Mary’s at 4pm – everyone welcome—please tell your Polish-speaking friends.

Music Ministry

If it is true that to sing is to pray twice, then in our Sunshine Coast parish, we are certainly a prayerful community!  Last Tuesday evening, we welcomed musicians and all involved in the music ministry of our parish to a barbecue on the balcony of the Maroochydore presbytery. It was our chance to acknowledge the dedication and generosity of our music ministry teams while at the same time outlining our priorities for the coming year.  On behalf of the entire Parish, thank you to all who, week after week, are dedicated to the music ministry of our Parish Family.

Buderim Appeal

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Buderim Appeal – the goal is to replace the carpet, new seating and new sanctuary furniture. Only with your help can this be achieved and we need to raise $98,000. So, I invite you to support this project – perhaps as an individual, a couple, a family or a group might get together and “buy a pew”. Any support is welcome and appreciated. If you would like more information, please contact Fr Peter on

br********@bn*.au  We have a designated account for this project, so if you would like to make a direct deposit through online banking, the account is:

Waves of Harmony

Do you enjoy stretching your vocal cords?  Then, why not join us at “Waves of harmony”?  We are a community-based choir and we rehearse every Tuesday at St Peter’s Church, Coolum from 4pm to 5:30pm. It’s fun, we’re friendly and we are always welcoming new members, so please join us!  For more information, please contact Linda on 0402414637 or email LI***@GE****.AU

Planned Giving

Available at the entrance of all our four churches, we have new information envelopes containing details about our Parish Planned Giving programme and the many ways you can support your Parish and our      Endowment Fund, which will provide your Parish Family with financial security into the future.  For new and returning members of our Parish, there is a Welcome Pack. It contains valuable information about your new Parish Family. Please feel free to take an envelope home with you today.

¡El idioma que hablan en el cielo!

Every Wednesday evening at 6pm in the Duffy Room, our Spanish-speaking prayer group members meet, and all Spanish speakers are warmly invited to join them. In addition to the prayer group, all are also welcome to the Mass in Spanish every second Saturday of the month, 6pm at St Mary’s, Buderim.  The next Spanish Mass will be on Saturday, March 8th.

Back For Another Exciting Year

Each Sunday afternoon at 3pm at Stella Maris, our Junior Ministers meet and all younger members of our Parish Family from First Communion to Year 6 are invited.  Our focus is fun and community service!

The Junior Ministry is open to all younger members of the parish from Year 3 and above who are eager to actively participate in serving our community. Opportunities include training to become an altar server, welcomer, reader, computer operator, collector, or part of the music ministry.

While our primary focus is on serving others, we also ensure there’s plenty of fun to be had with friends! We meet every Sunday during the school term at 3:00pm for training, pizza, fun games, and activities. For more information, or if you are an adult interested in participating in this ministry, please contact Bernie Baillie at bb*********@gm***.com
