It all culminates next Thursday

This is the final week of preparation as over 100 of our young parishioners look forward to celebrating their Confirmation at Stella Maris this Thursday evening. The journey towards the celebration of the sacrament began way back on April 23 when Jesuit theologian and author Fr Richard Leonard led a workshop for the parents, which looked at the Church in Australia.

This inspiring talk titled “The Good We Rarely Tell Anyone” was aimed at giving the parents a new appreciation of the Church, so they understand the beauty their children are being confirmed into. On the subsequent Wednesday evenings, the children and their parents have gathered at Stella Maris Church to learn about the sacrament. This has allowed them to remember their Baptism and the Baptismal Promises made on their behalf, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the symbols of Confirmation and the potential of the Holy Spirit to dramatically change their lives and the choices they make.

This Wednesday evening will be their last session where they will review their journey and practice before Thursday evening’s ceremonies. Thank you to Carrolyn Watt, the teachers & NET team who helped guide us over these past 5 weeks, and to Bishop Brian Heenan who will confer the Sacrament.
